Smartphone Addiction in kids

Sunday morning ….most awaited morning in the whole week, a lazy day and of course, a family fun day. I came up with a new topic idea this Sunday morning “ Smartphone Addiction.

All of us in 20's century are smartphone-addicted either its kids, teens, young or adult. In this Modern Era we can’t imagine our lives without a mobile. From morning to night we all spend hours and hours on mobile without even realizing that.

As soon as we open our eyes our day starts in search for our mobile and then next step is to check WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram or Twitter account and other messages and then replying for those messages and after this routine our day starts off. Starting the day with a cup of coffee or tea are now on back seat nowadays. Then jogging, getting fresh, breakfast, while driving to the office, in meetings, in lunch, on way back home and after getting home at the dinner table and even while sleeping. It's our only all day friend. One and only important friend these days.

Don’t get surprised to see a 2 years old handling mobile device independently. It is more often nowadays. It’s our modern era where a kid doesn’t learn how to take its first step firstly but knows how to unlock a phone.

I know you will say it’s a need of living nowadays all these devices make us more powerful and more independent. Yes, you are right on that no doubt.
All these devices are also now used by schools to keep kids updated, introduce them to technology and it’s an interesting way of learning ..all these statements are true.

But with every great technology there comes a drawback. And some of the big drawbacks of this technology is its effect on behavior, on eyes, on socialization, and on our relationships.

Imagine your home gathering, what you see nowadays mobile in all hands. The whole family in one place but still not there.
At least we have something to tell our kids about the games we play outside, about our friends, about our experiences as a kid, our fun stories but what they have... to tell to their kids ? may be mobile games...

SMARTPHONE  USE MAKES PARENTS INATTENTIVE

Every parent worries about their kid's behavior these days. But no doubt on this.......According to recent studies these are drawback gifts of these devices. And above of all its only parents that are responsible for this problem in kids. Wonder how?............. let's see

Ask only one question to you

How much time you are spending on your phone?

Have an app that tells the mobile phone usage it will tell you the truth.

It's only our fault. We are the reason kids are glued to their devices. As kids learn to watch us.

When a crying child comes to you, or I can say disturbs you, Ask for your attention. What we do?

Instead of paying attention to them, to their issues we handover them the mobile with a cartoon video. So, ultimately we are over the situation but giving kids a habit of the device.

Ultimately we are the villains.

So, Open your eyes be a hero, not villains.

Try some Healthy smartphone habits:

Yup! It is possible to let your kids enjoy time on mobile devices without affecting their behavior problem. And for that all you need to do is just follow some simple rules:
 1. Set Rules.Set rules for all and stick to them. No mobile on the dining table, doing homework before using mobile. And when the whole family is in one place no mobile rule will be the best option.

2. Set Limits. Set the usage limit on mobile devices for all members at home. There are lot many apps to help you with this.

3.Set Warning. kids get so frustrated when they have to stop a game in the middle of a level. give them a 5-minute warning before they have to stop. Enough time to get to the end of a level. When that time is over, they know they have to turn it off. And if they don’t, they get 10 minutes deducted from their next allocated session.

4.Family Time. Start your day with some physical exercise with kids and then have a breakfast with them. Have a chitchat with them about their school about their friends. Go for skating, walking, swimming, or a place where there are a lot of physical activity for kids to do. Have fun being active together and your kids will get into healthy habits. Then you won’t worry about them chilling out for a bit on a mobile device.

5. Free Time If They have free time from their routine try involving them with some home stuff with you it will build a habit of doing their work themselves and helping others. Do painting with them or even reading a story for them will be a fine step.

It will help you improve your bond with them, overcoming your mobile addiction and slowly you see a lot of improvement in their behavior. Early you start, early you will see the change.

Try limiting your mobile usage and give more time to your kid it’s the only solution to this problem.
